Radiographic Assessment of Lung Edema in Chest X-rays
November 20, 2024
In the medical field, chest X-rays are a common modality used for diagnosing and monitoring pulmonary diseases. One of the common pulmonary diseases is lung edema, which is the accumulation of fluid in the lungs, leading to shortness of breath, coughing, and chest pain. Radiographic assessment of lung edema (RALE) is a method used to determine the severity of lung edema from chest X-rays. RALE severity score ranges from 0 to 3, with 3 being the most severe. In this case study, we will discuss a data labeling use case where board-certified radiologists labeled chest X-rays for RALE severity score determination.
